Florence

Trip In Italy
(Secondes sections européennes mathématiques et histoire géographie)

We left Saintes after lunch by bus for Florence. After more than twenty hours in the bus, we arrived in Florence for our first visit : The Galileo Museum, where we had a guided tour in English. We saw many works of Galileo with explanations about his discoveries.

Then we visited the San Marco convent, just before lunch. In the afternoon, we had a free time which allowed us to discover Florence and its monuments (Ponte Vecchio, Cathedral...). At the end of the day we went on a hill to admire the sunset over the city.

We drove to the hotel where we stayed for two nights that was very pleasant.

The next day we went to Pisa where we saw the famous tower, before attending a lecture in French about Fibonacci at the University. It was here, too, that we met some Italian students (including some girls!). At the end of the day, we visited Sienna and its Palace.

The third and last day we returned to Florence to visit an art Gallery, where “The birth of Venus” was exhibited. Then we visited the Pitti Palace and its gardens. On this evening we ate very good Italian pizzas. Finally, this trip was an amazing experience which enabled us to discover a new culture.
